Pine Valley Central School's Class of 2026 was encouraged to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead while remembering the values and relationships that shaped their time at the school. The new graduates were joined by family, friends and faculty to celebrate their achievements during the district's 78th Commencement.
The commencement speaker was Keith Corkwell, a member of the Pine Valley Class of 1986, who is currently Senior Vice President and President of Lubrizol Additives, a division of the Lubrizol Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway company. He shared his inspiring journey from Pine Valley to leading a global organization and also encouraged graduates to remain curious, work hard, and embrace lifelong learning, reminding them that success is built through perseverance, character, and a willingness to pursue new opportunities.
Graduates also heard heartfelt remarks from valedictorian Kaitlyn King and salutatorian Amelia Morey, who reflected on the memories, friendships, challenges, and accomplishments that defined their years together. Their speeches celebrated the resilience and determination of the Class of 2026 while expressing gratitude to the families, teachers, and mentors who supported them along the way.
Paige Cobb, Director of Special Education and Curriculum, recognized the outstanding accomplishments of the graduating class by announcing the many scholarships and their recipients. The scholarships reflected the generosity of local organizations, alumni, businesses, and community members who continue to invest in the future of Pine Valley students.
Following the scholarship presentations, Junior-Senior High School Principal Kourtney Almeida proudly announced each graduate as they crossed the stage to receive their diploma, marking the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
The ceremony concluded with one of Pine Valley's most cherished traditions as the graduating class, joined by family, friends, faculty, and staff, proudly sang the Pine Valley Alma Mater.
