Jamestown City Lawmakers Approve Funding for Next Phase of River Maintenance Project

The Jamestown City Council has approved the next step in the city's $5.5 million Chadakoin River stormwater channel maintenance project. Roetzer says the money comes from the Federal Highway Administration and is being administered by the New York State Department of Transpotation. The city is responsible for a 20% match -- or about $1.1 million -- on the total project cost. Roetzer says the city is hoping to get a waiver to at least use some of the $1.25 million obtained by Congressman Nick Langworthy for the project to offset the local share. He says they're also looking at in-kind services as well.
