The weeks-long trend of sliding gas prices has ended. According to AAA, the national average price at the pump as of Monday is $3.87 per gallon, which is up by more than seven cents from a week ago. New York State's average increased by nearly two cents to $4.08. Meanwhile, local prices have been mixed statewide; in Chautauqua County, the average decreased by nearly three cents and is now $4.19. One year ago, the national and state averages were $3.15 and $3.18, respectively.
The increase in prices comes as the future of the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran remains uncertain. Crude oil prices ranged from $73-78 per barrel Monday morning compared to $68-71 one week ago.
