Governor Kathy Hochul says she is demanding answers from U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin in response to reports of three separate federal immigration detention projects planned in New York State. Two of the three projects are located in the Western District of New York -- one in Batavia and one in Rochester. In a letter to Mullin, Hochul said that DHS has not been coordinating with local communities on these planned projects, and she is demanding transparency about what the federal government is doing in New York communities.
