Village of Fredonia Gets Ready to Transition from Metered to Mobile Parking

The Village of Fredonia is preparing to transition from its current system of metered parking in exchange for a system where users pay through a mobile app. Last summer, the village agreed to enter into a contract with HONKMobile for mobile parking. Mayor Mike Ferguson, who was a guest on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Thursday, says the HONK system will be more reliable and cost effective for the village and its residents...

Mike Ferguson: cheaper and easier to enforce

Ferguson says the village has lost over $100,000 in parking revenues over the last few years, citing broken meters and fewer police officers who are able to enforce parking regulations. A public hearing on a local law to adjust the village's parking regulations accordingly was originally scheduled for this week, but it has been put on hold. Ferguson explains that the law is being revised because the village is not charging $25 a month for parking for everyone...

Mike Ferguson: making a couple of adjustments

As of Thursday, that public hearing has not been rescheduled, but Ferguson expects the village to receive the revised local law "within the next couple of weeks."
