E-Bike Pursuit Ends with Arrest of Jamestown Man, Discovery of Loaded Weapon and Fentanyl

A pursuit of an e-bike in Jamestown on Thursday ended with the arrest of a city man on several charges. Jamestown Police patrolling the downtown area saw a male operating the e-bike on a sidewalk in violation of the Jamestown City Code shortly after 12:00 PM. Officers tried to stop the operator -- later identified as 20-year-old Samuel Arrington, Jr. -- but he continued traveling south on Main Street. The pursuit continued through Brooklyn Square and ended on the city's west side after Arrington fled on foot and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and struggle. Officers say Arrington was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine, 51.4 grams of fentanyl, and a digital scale. According to police, Arrington does not have a pistol permit and cannot legally possess a firearm. He was charged with two counts of 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as 2nd-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and a City Code violation. Arrington was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail after being arraigned in Jamestown City Court.
