Nourish NY Program Gets 50% Boost in State Budget

This year's New York State budget continues a program started during the COVID-19 pandemic to make sure food gets to people who need it. State Senator George Borrello says he's pleased the new spending plan not only includes the Nourish NY program, but also increases its funding from $50 million to $75 million. Robert Ortt: a win-win for both parties

Nourish NY was launched in May 2020 to help connect farmers with local food banks and others during the early days of the pandemic when people were laid off from jobs and needed to get food from someplace with little or no money. In November 2021, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation sponsored by Borrello and Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz that made the program permanent.
