St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia Closing August 31st

The lone remaining Catholic church in the Village of Fredonia will close its doors at the end of the month. St. Anthony's Church, located at 42 Orchard Street, will be reduced to "profane but not sordid use" as of Monday, August 31st, according to a decree issued earlier this month by Buffalo Bishop Michael Fisher. An announcement on the Lord's Vineyard website states that the church, which has been open since 1906, will host its final Mass on Sunday, August 30th at 9:30 AM. St. Anthony's Parish was merged into the Holy Trinity Parish in Dunkirk on February 14th as part of the Diocese of Buffalo's restructuring process following its declaration of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
