A Jamestown man has been arrested for allegedly setting a house on fire last week. Jamestown Police say an investigation into the blaze at 629 Prendergast Avenue on August 25th determined that it was suspicious. Officers say 38-year-old William Blakey ignited a mattress on the lower porch of the residence, and the resulting fire spread throughout the building and caused significant damage. Blakey was arrested Tuesday morning on warrants charging him with 3rd-degree arson and 2nd-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned on those warrants and was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he is being held on $10,000 bail.
