The Town of Pomfret has been awarded a grant through an initiative to build and improve playgrounds across New York State. Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that the town will receive $821,221 through New York Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization (NY PLAYS). Pomfret Town Supervisor Dan Pacos tells WDOE News that the money will be used to rehabilitate the Barker Street Playground in the Village of Fredonia. Pacos says the project will involve the addition of a splash pad and handicap-accessible equipment. The money is part of $67.5 million to be issued for 89 projects to build, expand and renovate public playgrounds across New York State.
