George Borrello: how advanced nuclear could be a solution

Dunkirk is one of eight communities that have formally responded to New York State's request for communities interested in exploring nuclear development. The Sunset Bay Republican, who was a guest on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Wednesday, adds that there has been no indication from Governor Kathy Hochul's Office when a short list of potential host communities will be revealed...

George Borrello: no word from Hochul

Borrello believes Hochul may wait to reveal that list until after the November election. He has been a proponent of using natural gas to repower the former NRG plant in Dunkirk, but feels advanced nuclear would be a suitable alternative. In June, Borrello hosted a Nuclear 101 forum at SUNY Fredonia for local leaders to learn more about advanced nuclear technology and what a potential project could mean for Dunkirk and Chautauqua County.
