The Jamestown Police Department has made an arrest in its investigation into the damage done to a local soup kitchen's freezer system in August. According to police, the manager of St. Susan Center told officers that the organization's cooling system was destroyed on August 16th. Officers discovered via video surveillance footage that a homeless man, 33-year-old Jurall Reid, had allegedly walked to the outside of the building where the cooling system is and removed vanous copper parts and the radiator, destroying the system. Police say the cooling system kept about $4,860 worth of perishable food items cold. Once the parts were removed, the refrigerator stopped working, and the food that feeds countless people in need was destroyed. Officers add that Reid has received countless meals at St. Susan Center prior to that incident. After receiving tips, police charged Reid with 2nd-degree criminal mischief and 5th-degree criminal possession of stole property, as he was allegedly seen again on surveillance footage possessing the cooling system parts and selling them for money. Reid, who was incarcerated at the time his identity was discovered, was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, then arraigned and released.
