New York's junior U.S. senator used her weekly video conference call with reporters to slam President Donald Trump for spending billions of taxpayer dollars on what she called "vanity projects" like construction of a new White House ballroom and a no-bid contract to paint the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Kirsten Gillibrand's words on Thursday followed a new congressional report which found that the cost of those projects is expected to exceed $1.8 billion.
