Henry J. DiLorenzo, a lifelong resident of Dunkirk, died on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully following a brief illness.
Henry was born on May 23, 1940, the son of Enrico DiLorenzo and Winfred (Pietro) DiLorenzo. He was a proud volunteer fireman for Hose Company 1 for many years.
He was a founding member of the Moonlighters skating club and a longtime member of the BPO Elks Club. He was an avid bowler, a member of both the Lake Shore and Jamestown coin clubs, and he enjoyed frequenting the casino whenever possible. He truly enjoyed listening to country music, watching baseball, football, horse racing, and spent most of his other time watching the Game Show Network, where you would find him playing along from the comfort of his couch.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Faith (Kachermeyer) DiLorenzo; his daughter, Terri (Andre) Vasquez; his two granddaughters -- whom he loved more than anything -- Cierra Vasquez and Isabella Vasquez; and his sister, Rose (DiLorenzo) Bradley. He is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Anthony DiLorenzo; and his two sisters, Carmen (DiLorenzo) Mastrelli and Barbara DiLorenzo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the WWII Vets Club, 216 Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk.
Henry was a very giving person and gave support faithfully to many charitable causes; a few of that were near and dear to him are Shriners, St. Jude, American Cancer Society, Lakeshore Humane Society, and Wounded Warriors. Anyone choosing to donate can do so in his memory.
