Dennis James McGraw, 79, of Dunkirk, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at home after a short battle with cancer.
Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served his country bravely in the Vietnam War. Dennis was born in Dunkirk to the late John A. and Eileen E. McGraw on June 6, 1946. He married the love of his life, Linda L. McGraw (McClean) on April 20, 1969. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary next month.
It should surprise no one who knew Dennis that he specifically requested, "the shortest obituary possible."
To honor that wish, Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda L. McGraw; children, Tracy R. McGraw, Melissa L. McGraw and Brett A. McGraw; four grandchildren, Brittany (Christian) Dorn, Brad McGraw-Wixson, Noah McGraw-Wixson and Savanna McGraw; a great-granddaughter, Kallie Dorn; brother, Tim McGraw; sister, Cathy Tynan; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend funeral services on Sunday, March 15 from 2:00-3:30 PM at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue in Dunkirk. Prayer services will begin at 3:00 PM, with military honors immediately following held by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council. Interment will be held in private.
