Robert F. Sobczak, 84, of Route 83 in Forestville died on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, following a short illness. He was born in Dunkirk on September 4, 1941, the son of the late Frank and Winifred (Krzyzanowicz) Sobczak.
Robert worked as a maintenance mechanic for the former Carriage House in Fredonia for over 25 years. He served in the Navy and enjoyed traveling and word searches.
Survivors include a daughter, Michele (Michael Edmunds) Sobczak of Elma; along with his sisters, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Wanda (Holmes) Sobczak, whom he married on July 3, 1963 in the First United Presbyterian Church and who died on September 19, 2016; and his brother, Ronald Sobczak.
Friends are welcome to call on Thursday, March 19 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street in Forestville, where funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in in Cowden's Corners Cemetery in the Town of Arkwright, where military graveside services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953 in Forestville.
