Javier Garcia-Lopez, 64, of Dunkirk passed away suddenly at home Friday morning, March 27, 2026.
Javier was born on November 25, 1961 in Michoacan, Mexico. He spent his young adult years raising his siblings (Raul Garcia, Jose Luis Garcia, Jorge Garcia, Mary Huerta, Patty Huerta, Lupe Garcia and Alicia Garcia) after the tragic loss of his parents.
Javier was an immense pillar of the agricultural community in Western New York to North East, Pennsylvania and beyond. He worked for Welch's Corporation along with many, if not all, farmers in the region. Javier provided service to many farmers from coordinating labor to accomplish the seasonal work, to resetting farms to improve production of future harvests. He specialized in grape growth and production but was intimate with the production of fruits and vegetables of all varieties that grow in Western New York, as well as many numerous regional producers from around the United States, from oranges in Florida to blueberries in Washington State.
He was a teacher and leader who gave anyone looking for a better life, through hard work, a chance. The loss of Javier will be deeply felt by many people throughout the farming communities.
Javier is survived by his children, Angelo Delgado, Edgardo Delgado II, Jeanette Delgado (Gerardo "Toty" Figuero) and Catherine Beckwith-Cosme (Adam Warner). He was a proud father and family man with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his soulmate and loving wife, Anne M. Lopez-Garcia in December 2013; granddaughter, Juliette Rose Beckwith in April 2016; mother-in-law, Jeanette L. Morgan in April 2019; and son, Javier Garcia in August 2021.
A service for his passing will be held on Sunday, April 12 from 12:30-4:00 PM at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue in Dunkirk, and a reception will follow from 4:15-7:30 PM at the Route 5 Event Center, 296 Lake Shore Drive West in Dunkirk. Interment will be held in private.
