John F. "Johnny" LaMancuso, 10, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with his mom and dad by his side. He was born on April 1, 2016 in Jamestown to John Ignatius and Gillian Marie Ditonto LaMancuso.
Johnny was a fourth-grade student at Fletcher Elementary School and was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church.
Johnny will be remembered for inspiring his community and beyond, with his toughness, bravery, and unyielding spirit.
A magnetic personality, Johnny made hundreds of friends during his decade of life. He touched the lives of classmates, teachers, neighbors, teammates, coaches, and more. His friends will forever remember him as loyal, fun-loving, kind, and competitive.
A gifted athlete and hard worker, Johnny excelled in basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf, and fishing. He lived for sports. He played basketball, baseball, and football while receiving chemotherapy and radiation, sometimes traveling directly from the infusion clinic or radiation center to the ball field to play. #17 will be remembered for his grit, determination, positive attitude, and leadership. His friends will remember hundreds of ballgames around the area and especially on Johnny's home field in his backyard.
A loving brother, Johnny will be dearly missed by his three younger siblings. He is their hero, and is leaving with them many kisses, hugs, and sweet memories.
Johnny's bravery was revealed as he faithfully traveled the country and the world for medical treatment. He tested new therapies that will be improved upon because Johnny had the heart and courage to try.
Surviving, besides his parents, are sisters Alessandra and Miriana; brother, Santino; grandparents, John and Kathleen LaMancuso of Jamestown and Guy and Ellen Ditonto of Jamestown; great-grandmothers, RosaLee Owen of Dunkirk and Nellie Ditonto of Lakewood; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Donald Owen, Bennie Ditonto, Ignatius and Loretta LaMancuso, and John and Beatrice Kinnear.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 20 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West 3rd Street in Jamestown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 21 at 10:00 AM in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
