Michael R. Dowling, 78, of Dunkirk passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, April 22, 2026. Born on October 13, 1947 in Buffalo, he was the husband of the late Diana (Kucharski) Dowling and son of the late William and Jeanne Dowling.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1967-1970.
Following his honorable service, Michael built a substantial career working first at Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna. For 16 years, he applied himself as a quality control inspector, ensuring the highest standards of excellence. He later spent nearly four decades as a maintenance mechanic at Dunkirk Ice Cream, where his hard work and reliability were deeply valued until his retirement.
One of Michael's proudest accomplishments was his marriage to Diana. Their bond was a source of happiness and strength for many years, and their partnership endured with love until Diana's passing in 2022.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Jody (Kevin) Bialaszewski; grandchildren, Stella (Adam Plewik) and Derrick Bialaszewski; siblings, Bill Dowling, Mary Utkin and Jeanne (Chuck) Danzi; along with a nephew and many nieces. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Diana (Kucharski) Dowling; and sister, Kathy Levy.
Funeral services will be held in private at the convenience of the family.
