Janet P. Rozen, 74, of Dunkirk passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at home. Born in Dunkirk on November 7, 1951, she was the wife of Joseph J. Rozen and daughter of the late Peter and Wanda (Ryczko) Tofil.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Janet attended Dunkirk School #6 and was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1969 and Jamestown Business College.
Janet worked as a bookkeeper at Miller's Furniture Store in Dunkirk and spent 20 years as a lunch room monitor at School #7, retiring in 2017. She was a former Girl Scout leader and involved in PTOs at Dunkirk Schools.
Janet was a devout Catholic, a member of Blessed Mary Angela Parish, Church of St. Hyacinth, where she volunteered at parish functions, including lawn festivals and flea markets.
Additional memberships include a life membership at the Dom Polski Club, serving several years as financial secretary; and a social member at the Kosciuszko Polish Home, World War II Veterans Club, Dunkirk Senior Citizens, and the Grape Belt Seniors in Fredonia.
Her family always came first. She loved family gatherings at holidays and celebrated everyone's birthday. She attended many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sports, concerts, and musicals.
She loved her flower garden, especially roses, and read many romance novels. She loved watching sports on TV and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bisons, Buffalo Bills, New York Mets and New York Jets.
Janet also enjoyed trips to casinos, especially on the senior buses, and was an avid fan of "I Love Lucy" reruns and game shows.
Survivors include her husband of almost 53 years, Joe; daughters, Lori (David) Felt and Julie Rozen (Nate Swanson); son, James Rozen; grandchildren, Peter, Lucas, Danielle and Michael Felt; brother, Richard (Ginny) Titus; sisters-in-law, Jane Henderson and Pauline Newman; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends and caring neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant sister, Rita Helen Tofil; niece, Linda Titus Battaglia; godparents, Joseph "Turpy" Tofil and Helen Ryczko; in-laws, Jozef and Stephania Rozen; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Henderson, Daniel Newman and Frank Rozen; and sister-in-law, Nancy Rozen.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Sunday, May 3 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 4 at 11:00 AM in BMA Church of St. Hyacinth. Burial will follow in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
