Minnie M. Freligh, 94, of Ripley passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 29, 2026 at her home, with her family at her side. She is leaving behind generations of loved ones who will be missing her dearly
Minnie was born on November 30, 1931 in Sherman, the daughter of the late Clarence "Callie" and Emma (Gibbens) Tryon. She married Howard E. Freligh on August 7, 1948, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2014 after 66 years of marriage.
Minnie retired from Jamestown Plastics in Brocton, where she made many long lasting friendships. She also formerly worked for Niagara Therapy.
Minnie was a voracious reader who enjoyed feeding the birds, tending her flower garden, playing cards and her daily visit to Mayberry with Andy & Barney. She bowled in a bowling league for many years, was a founding and last remaining member of her ladies card club, active member of the Ripley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and patronized the local casino occasionally.
Surviving are two loving daughters, Brenda Carr of Granite Falls, NC and Robin (Garry) Huff of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sons, Lawrence Michael and Scott Freligh, both of Ripley; six cherished grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her beloved little dog, Cody; and several nieces and nephews who were very dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a stepfather, Lewis Brown; a brother, Lawrence Tryon; a grandson, Phillip Freligh; two sons-in-law, Gerald Carr and Charles Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Freligh.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, May 4 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Ripley Presbyterian Church, 20 West Main Street in Ripley, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private in the Quincy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Minnie's memory may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, the Ripley Fire Department, or the Ripley Free Library.
