Anthony J. "Tony" Dolce, 64, of Jamestown died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in his home. A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born on December 31, 1961, a son of the late Anthony and Marietta Cutrona Dolce.
Tony was a proud 1979 graduate of Jamestown High School, where he excelled in music, playing in the band, singing in A Cappella Choir, and was selected for the Conference All-State and All-East bands playing the baritone saxophone. He went on to SUNY Fredonia, where he received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in secondary education and social studies.
He was a communicant of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as senior cantor, choir member and soloist. Most recently, he was very involved in the successful movement to save the church from closure by the diocese.
Prior to his retirement in 2024, he was employed by the Jamestown Public School District as a history/government teacher at Jamestown High School. During his tenure, he was a class advisor five times; oversaw Student Organization, which is responsible for Battle of the Classes; graduation ceremonies; and baccalaureate services. All of these events ran smoothly because of Tony's attention to detail and devotion to the school and students. In addition, he coached baseball for the school for 19 years, Babe Ruth League from 1984-2016, and cross country for the school to share with the students his love of running.
In 1993, Tony was first elected to Jamestown City Council representing Ward 2, an office which he held for over 30 years. He served as council president and council representative to the board of the BPU. Tony was a proud supported and board member of the YMCA and served on the Lake View Cemetery board as well. For over three decades, he represented his constituents with devotion, integrity and hard work to do what he thought was best for the city. Above all, Tony was first and foremost a family man. His love for his wife, children and family was always evident in everything he did. While he was a "servant" to the community, Tony was deeply devoted to his wife and children.
Surviving is his wife, Anne Chandler Dolce, whom he met in the Ss. Peter and Paul choir in 1979 and married on August 24, 1996; two children, Amelia (Dan) Witkowski of Pittsburgh, PA and Christian Dolce of Jamestown; a brother, Jeffrey (Patricia) Dolce of Aurora, IL; and a sister, Karen (Randy Thompson) Dolce of Lake Royale, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 AM in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday, July 24 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West 3rd Street in Jamestown.
Attention all singers: As tribute to Tony, a community choir is being formed to sing two familiar songs on Saturday at his funeral. A rehearsal will be held on Thursday, July 23 at 6:30 PM Thursday in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. All singers are welcome. There will be no better way to usher Tony into heaven than by raising our voices in song.
