Saturday Sports Update -- August 27, 2016

Bills starters get plenty of rest in loss to Redskins...Yanks rookie catcher continues to rake...and a team from Central New York vies for Little League World Series championship.  Greg Larson has more details on today's Saturday Sports Update...

Saturday Sports Update

Top: Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel fires a pass for receiver Walter Powell during the team's preseason game against the Washington Redskins on Friday.  Manuel and several other starters saw significant playing time in the contest, as head coach Rex Ryan opted to play it safe and keep his starters healthy during a game typically referred to as the "dress rehearsal" for the regular season.  The Bills lost to the Redskins 21-16.  Photo from buffalobills.com

Bottom left: Can anyone stop Gary Sanchez right now?  The New York Yankees rookie catcher has been on fire at the dish.  On Friday, against Baltimore, he went 3 for 5 with four RBI, including this two-run home run as part of a 14-4 victory for the Bronx Bombers.  Since being called up from the minors, Sanchez has 10 homers in 20 games, including eight dingers in his last nine.  Photo by the New York Post

Bottom right: Will it end well for Endwell?  New York State's representative in this year's Little League World Series is playing for the U.S. championship in the LLWS this afternoon.  They'll be facing the team from Goodlettsville, Tennessee.  First pitch from Williamsport is slated for 3:30 PM.
