Saturday Sports Update

Top right: Remember the XFL, the experimental football league that lasted only one season back in 2001?  Well, a new incarnation of the XFL will kick off this afternoon.  The eight-team league will feature a number of rules that are different from the NFL, including no extra-point kicking; the option of going for one, two, or three points after a touchdown; and a 25-second play clock.

Bottom right: Section VI has its first ever 3,000-point scorer in high school basketball, and she is from Cattaraugus County.  Franklinville senior Dani Haskell hit that milestone on Friday by scoring 31 points in a victory at Falconer.  Haskell recently passed Randolph's McKenna Maycock to become Western New York's all-time leading scorer.  Photo by Franklinville High School
