Tage Thompson (left) emerged as a big star for the Sabres this season, leading the team with 47 goals and totaling 94 points. While he was disappointed that the Sabres missed the playoffs by one point, he is hopeful that the team's strong finish will carry over into next season. Pitcher Domingo German was checked out multiple times by umpires for sticky substances on his hand, but was allowed to stay in the game despite protests from Twins manager Rocco Baldelli that he didn't fully comply.
