Saturday Sports Update

Top: Brocton has a chance to win its first ever state championship in high school baseball today.  On Friday, the Bulldogs knocked off Section X champion Lisbon 10-0 in the Class D semifinals in Binghamton.  Jordan Krystofiak (left) had two hits and scored the game's first run in the 3rd inning, while Ronald Brown (right) continued to deliver on the mound, striking out 11 batters in a three-hit shutout effort.  Brocton's final hurdle will be Section II championship Whitehall, and we'll have coverage on WDOE (94.9 FM/1410 AM) and here at chautauquatoday.com!  Photos by the Observer

Bottom right: Gary Woodland had the best round of the day at Pebble Beach on Friday, and that has propelled him into the lead at the U.S. Open.  Woodland carded a 65 and begins the day with a two-shot lead at -9.  Photo by USA Today
