Heated argument and ejections mar Yankees win over Cleveland...a wild 14-inning affair in the nation's capital...and Miocic TKOs Cormier. Greg Larson has more details on today's Sunday Sports Update...
Sunday Sports Update
Top left: The New York Yankees might be the best team in the American League, but they certainly have not been the best when it comes to keeping a cool head. Manager Aaron Boone (left), along with Brett Gardner (right) and CC Sabathia, were ejected from Saturday's 6-5 win over the Cleveland Indians after Boone argued a called third strike in the 6th inning. Gardner was thrown out of the game for banging his bat on the roof of the dugout, which has become somewhat of a ritual for him this season in an effort to fire up his teammates. Photos by Newsday
Bottom left: The scorecard just about says it all. Justin Thomas was on fire at the BMW Championship on Saturday, carding a course record 61 in a round that included two eagles on the back nine. Thomas begins play today with a six-shot lead at -21. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: Stipe Miocic got off to a slow start, but he eventually came through to regain his UFC heavyweight championship belt. The Cleveland native defeated Daniel Cormier by TKO late in Round 4 at UFC 241 in Anaheim on Saturday, handing the 40-year-old Cormier just his second ever loss in the octagon. Photo by USA Today
