Wolfpack win back-to-back state football titles...a near record performance for a Dunkirk basketball player...and big ratings for the Bills' Thanksgiving Day win over Dallas. More details from Greg Larson on today's Saturday Sports Update...
Saturday Sports Update
Top: For the second time in as many years, Chautauqua County produced a New York State football champion. On Friday at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, Clymer-Sherman-Panama got a rematch with Moriah in the Class D championship game. While last year's meeting was pretty close most of the way, this year's matchup was not even close; the Wolfpack jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead and went on to win by a score of 47-6. Bottom left: Dunkirk's Earl Stewart made a name for himself last year as one of the emerging basketball talents in the area. On Friday, Stewart made his season debut after recovering from a broken collarbone, and he wasted no time getting his senior year off on the right foot, as he had 44 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and seven steals in a 73-57 win over Global Concepts. The 44-point performance was just three points shy of a school record. File photo
Bottom right: Jeff Skinner skates with the puck during the Buffalo Sabres' home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. Skinner scored the first goal of the night to spur the team's comeback from a 2-0 deficit. The Sabres went on to win 6-4, and will look to build on that result tonight when the Sabres and Leafs face each other again tonight. Photo by the Buffalo Sabres
