Saturday Sports Update

Top left: College football's championship weekend kicked off Friday evening with another twist in the race for the College Football Playoff.  13th-ranked Oregon ran all over Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Game in Santa Clara by a score of 37-15.  The result effectively ended the 5th-ranked Utes' chances of getting into the four-team playoff field.  Photo by USA Today

Top right: If you're in the way of Giannis Antetokounmpo when he's headed to the basket, you'd better get out of the way; otherwise, you'll end up like L.A. Clippers big man Ivica Zubac did on Friday.  The Greek Freak had 27 points and 11 rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks cruised to their 14th consecutive victory, 119-91.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom: The first two weekends of December means its local tournament time, as a way to mark the start of the high school basketball season.  One of those tournaments is the Westfield Winter Classic, and on Friday, Westfield and Chautauqua Lake won their respective opening round games.  Dylan Scriven (left) was one of four Westfield players in double figures with 15 points, as the Wolverines defeated Silver Creek 74-54.  Meanwhile, Noah Adams poured in 17 points as the Thunderbirds edged Sherman 57-52.  Photos by the Observer
