Sunday Sports Update
Top: College basketball's biggest rivalry lived up to its billing on Saturday, and then some, as Duke pulled off not one, but two buzzer-beaters to defeat North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tye Jones was the first hero for the Blue Devils, as his successful jumper at the end of regulation tied the game at 84-84 to force overtime and erase a deficit that was 13 points with less than 4:00 to go. Then in overtime, Jones missed a free throw and a potential game-winner, but Wendell Moore was in the right place at the right time for a putback to break Tar Heel hearts. Bottom left: Some good news for the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Rookie Victor Olofsson returned to practice for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury on January 3rd. Olofsson led all NHL rookies in goals and points on the season before getting injured. However, he is still expected to miss another week of game action. Photo by the Buffalo Sabres
Bottom right: SUNY Fredonia continued its "Pink the Rink" tradition on Saturday, as its hockey team donned pink jerseys to help raise money for breast cancer research. The Blue Devils and Potsdam battled to a 4-4 tie at Steele Hall. Photo by the Observer
