Sunday Sports Update
Top left: While the coronavirus has put a stranglehold on the sports world for the past couple of weeks now, two leagues still plan to hold their upcoming drafts on schedule. The 2020 NFL Draft is still slated to take place on April 23-25, but teams are currently working through different options to accommodate for a remote draft, and the league is looking at what Commissioner Roger Goodell's role would be in a remote draft with announcing picks. Bottom: It is certainly not every day that four high school sports teammates wind up going to the same college together. But that is indeed the case for the seniors on Dunkirk High School's girls basketball team! Four of the five starters from this past season's team -- Kymi Nance, Jessica Beehler, Nadara O'dell, and Amari Carter -- will be going to Jamestown Community College in the fall. The four seniors helped lead the highest scoring team in Section VI to a 24-1 record and brought home the program's first division title and first sectional title since 1991. Their decisions were made after Ken Ricker resigned as Dunkirk's head coach last Monday to take the women's basketball head coaching spot at JCC. Photos by Ron Szot
