Saturday Sports Update

Top left: The NHL announced on Friday that the NHL Players Association and the NHL Board of Governors approved a package that will not only allow the league to restart this summer, but also includes a four-year extension to its collective bargaining agreement.  Training camps for NHL teams will open Monday, with the 24-team tournament to get underway August 1st.  One player who will not be a part of the tournament is the Calgary Flames' Travis Hamonic, who has opted out due to his child' battle with a respiratory illness.  Hamonic is the first player to opt out of the NHL's restart.

Top right: NBA players have started their preparations for their season restart in Orlando, Florida, but former NBA player and current analyst Charles Barkley isn't very confident that the season will finish.  With Florida becoming one of the hotspots in the country for COVID-19, Barkley tells ESPN that it's difficult to ignore a spike in new cases, even with players playing in a bubble environment.

Bottom: The Philadelphia Eagles fined wide receiver DeSean Jackson on Friday for conduct detrimental to the team, following anti-Semitic remarks that he posted recently on social media.  ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus says Jackson will donate his fine to Jewish communities, and has shown his commitment to follow through on his plans to better educate himself on the matter.
