Top: Two north county teams got their first win of the high school football season on Saturday, with Fredonia and Silver Creek both coming out on top by close margins. Billies senior Dominic Gullo (left) ran back the second half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to give Fredonia the lead, and the Billies got a 70-yard touchdown run from quarterback Nick Whitfield en route to a 12-10 victory over Falconer-Cassadaga Valley. Meanwhile, in Dunkirk, Silver Creek junior Hunter Larson (right) powered the Black Knights to a 33-27 win over Bishop Timon-St. Jude by running for 195 yards and four touchdowns on the day. Bottom left: The Buffalo Sabres on Saturday traded defenseman Brandon Montour to the Florida Panthers for a 3rd-round pick in this year's NHL Draft.
