Saturday Sports Update
Top left: Gio Urshela gets tagged out at home plate in the top of the 4th inning of the New York Yankees' game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Friday. The out was the first one of the 4th inning in a 3-3 game, and it was a blown opportunity for the Yankees, who went on to lose 5-3. New York has played Boston four times so far this season and has lost all four meetings. Photo by USA Today

On Friday, the Lightning scored a shorthanded goal in the 2nd period, and that was all they needed to win Game 7 of their semifinal series with the New York Islanders. The 1-0 victory sets up a clash with the upstart Montreal Canadiens in the finals, which began on Monday. Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: Heartbreak for North Carolina State and a reminder that COVID-19 is not a thing of the past just yet. The Wolfpack went on an incredible postseason, but COVID-related issues decimated their roster to just 13 players for Friday's College World Series game against Vanderbilt, which they lost 3-1. The NCAA called today's elimination game a no-contest due to COVID protocols, eliminating the Wolfpack and sending Vanderbilt to the College World Series Finals. Photo by North Carolina State
