Saturday Sports Update
Top: Much of the focus entering Friday's practice at Buffalo Bills training camp was on running backs such as offseason acquisition Matt Breida (left). Breida, along with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, each had big plays during practice. But it was defensive tackle Ed Oliver (right) who stole the show by getting into a fight with rookie offensive lineman Spencer Brown towards the end of practice, with punches thrown and a helmet ripped off during the skirmish. When asked by reporters about the altercation, Oliver simply called it "friendly competition." Photos by the Buffalo Bills
Bottom left: The New York Yankees made some big moves this week ahead of Major League Baseball's trade deadline, and one of their acquisitions stood out on Friday against the Miami Marlins. Anthony Rizzo, who came over from the Chicago Cubs, went 2-for-3 with a solo home run as the Yanks won by a 3-1 score. Rizzo will look to push New York towards a playoff spot; the team is currently 3 1/2 games behind the Oakland Athletics for the second wild card spot in the American League. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: Simone Biles, America's top gymnast, has been grabbing plenty of headlines in Tokyo during the Olympics, but not for the reasons many expected. Biles has pulled herself out of multiple events during the first week of competition, citing mental health concerns. Those concerns have prompted Biles to withdraw from two more events -- the vault and the uneven bars -- scheduled for Sunday. Photo by Reuters
