Sunday Sports Update
Top: On Saturday, Dunkirk and Fredonia squared off for the second time in this high school baseball season. This meeting produced a different result than the first one, with Dunkirk coming out on top by a score of 8-5 at Al Stuhlmiller Field. Javier DeJesus (left) had one of six Dunkirk hits in the bottom of the 4th inning; his contribution was an RBI triple, which included him scoring on an error. Fredonia tried to come back from an 8-2 deficit, with a solo home run by Matt Cash (right) as one of the three runs the Billies scored. But the comeback effort fell short when Nathan Sercu grounded into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded. Photos by Greg Larson
Bottom left: The New York Yankees rallied late from a two-run deficit against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, but they could not salvage a win. Luis Robert hit a one-out single into right field to drive home the winning run and hand the Yankees a 3-2 loss in the Windy City. The two teams will finish up their four-game series this afternoon. Bottom right: The Stanley Cup Playoffs had three Game 7s on Saturday, and one of the contest ended with another early exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto has not won a playoff series since 2004, and that drought continued, as the Leafs lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1. Photo by USA Today
