Top left: Westfield sophomore Drew Ernewein hits a triple on a fly ball to right field during the 3rd inning of Friday's New York State Class D Far West Regional game against Friendship-Scio on Saturday. It was one of five hits recorded on the day by the Lady Wolverines, with Ernewein adding a single later on. However, the Lady Wolverines failed to get any runs and saw their high school softball season end with a 4-0 loss at Fillmore High School. Photo by Greg Larson
Top right: Gerrit Cole was on his game Friday night for the New York Yankees. Cole gave up just two hits over seven shutout innings; he actually took a perfect game into the 7th inning before it got broken up by a two-out single. Meanwhile, the Yankee bats combined for four home runs en route to a 13-0 win over the Detroit Tigers, the team's fourth straight victory. Photo by USA Today
Bottom left: Poland has a Grand Slam champion again. Today, Iga Swiatek won her second French Open title, defeating American Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3 on the red clay of Roland-Garros. Bottom right: Several golfers were at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk on Friday for the 12th annual Van Miller Hometown Hero Memorial Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament.
