Sunday Sports Update

Top: With virtually every starter on the sideline for the Buffalo Bills, many of the team's youngsters got their chance to make a first impression in their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts.  Rookie linebacker Terrel Bernard (left) accounted for Buffalo's only score of the first half, as he returned a fumble 69 yards for a touchdown.  Also opening some eyes was rookie wide receiver Khalil Shakir (right), who led the team with 92 yards receiving on five receptions.  The Bills defeated the Colts by a score of 27-24 after scoring 17 unanswered points in the final 8:10 of the game.  Photos by the Buffalo Bills

Bottom left: ESPN reports that New York Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.  Wilson, shown here walking off the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, was reported to be diagnosed with a bone bruise and a meniscus tear in the knee.  He is expected to be out for 2-4 weeks.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: With the New York Yankees struggling to get wins lately, Isiah Kiner-Falefa stepped up to the proverbial plate on Saturday.  He hit his first home run in a Yankees uniform, launching a two-run shot over Fenway Park's Green Monster in the top of the 5th inning.  He later drove in the go-ahead run on a bunt single in the top of the 9th to give New York a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox.  Image from FOX Sports
