Sunday Sports Update
Top: The Buffalo Bills had no trouble handling the Denver Broncos in their second preseason game on Saturday, as they won in a 42-15 blowout at Highmark Stadium. The Bills amassed 510 total yards against the Broncos, who rested all of their starters. 208 of those yards came out of the running game. Bottom left: The Yankees' ongoing nosedive has now reached the point of visible frustration. On Saturday, the Yankees lost 5-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays, marking the team's 14th loss in their last 17 games. Afterwards, manager Aaron Boone slammed his hand on a table while talking to reporters about the team's struggles. New York's lead in the American League East, which seemed insurmountable at the All-Star Break, is now down to seven games.
Bottom right: Albert Pujols is making a push to reach 700 career home runs before he retires at the end of the season. On Saturday, the 42-year-old slugger homered twice in a 16-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, giving him 692 dingers for his career. He is now four behind Alex Rodriguez for fourth place on MLB's all-time list. Pujols also went 4-for-4 at the plate, and in the process, surpassed Cardinals legend Stan Musial for second place on MLB's all-time total bases list. Photo by USA Today
