Saturday Sports Update

Top left: When the chips are down, Fredonia and Southwestern always seem to deliver.  And Friday night's high school football game at Southwestern's Charles Lawson Field was no different.  Fredonia's Jameson Quinn caught two touchdown passes in the contest -- one in the 1st quarter that helped the Billies build a 21-0 lead through three quarters, and the second one, shown here, to put his team ahead in overtime after the Trojans stormed back in the second half to tie the game.  Quinn's second score proved to be decisive, as the Billies held on for a 28-21 road win.  Photo by Greg Larson

Top right: Quanteer Neallard scored a pair of touchdowns for Dunkirk in its homecoming game on Friday at Karl Hoeppner Field.  Here, he finds running room on an 87-yard kickoff return touchdown in the 1st quarter of the contest against Falconer-Cassadaga Valley-Maple Grove.  Neallard was one of the few bright spots for the Marauders, who gave up six touchdowns in the opening quarter en route to a 49-20 loss.  Image by Dunkirk Access

Bottom left: Jordan Poyer's performance last week against the Baltimore Ravens was key to a Buffalo Bills win, but that won't be the case tomorrow.  Poyer, who injured his ribs in the 23-20 victory, did not practice all week and is now out for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He and tight end Dawson Knox are two starters the Bills will not have available for the contest due to injury.  Photo by the Buffalo Bills

Bottom right: The Buffalo Sabres gave a lot of time to their more inexperienced players in their preseason finale on Friday.  One of those players was goalie Eric Comrie, who made just 20 saves on 27 shots faced in a 7-1 loss at the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The Sabres begin their regular season next Thursday at home against Ottawa.  Photo by the Buffalo Sabres
