Sunday Sports Update

Top left: If the Buffalo Sabres are going to snap their lengthy postseason drought, they need to start stacking wins.  Today, the Sabres begin a three-game homestand with a matinee against the Boston Bruins, the top team in the NHL's Eastern Conference.  The Sabres begin today six points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final wild card spots in the conference.  Buffalo enter today's contest losers of eight of their last 10.  Photo by the Buffalo Sabres

Bottom: The Section VI basketball season is over, and now the postseason accolades are coming in from the coaches.  Four Fredonia boys players were named to the CCAA Division 1 West All-Star teams; senior Ethan Fry (left), shown taking a shot against Cleveland Hill in the Class B-2 playoffs, was named to the league's First Team, while Jay Hawk and Davion White were named to the Second Team, and Mike Hahn got Honorable Mention.  Meanwhile, two Dunkirk players got Honorable Mention, including senior Lorenzo Lewis (right), shown here going up for a slam dunk against Silver Creek.  Sophomore Greg Orcutt was the other Marauder player to receive Honorable Mention.  Photos by Greg Larson
