Saturday Sports Update

Top: The Buffalo Bills had two selections at their disposal on the second day of the NFL Draft, and on Friday, they used them to address needs on both sides of the ball.  In the 2nd round, the Bills chose 6'5", 346-pound O'Cyrus Torrence (left) out of Florida to bolster their offensive line.  Then seeking to fill a void left by the departure of Tremaine Edmunds, Buffalo chose linebacker Dorian Williams (right) in the 3rd round.  The Bills have only two draft picks on the third and final day of the draft.  Photos by USA Today

Bottom left: Clarke Schmidt has been the weak link in a banged-up New York Yankees starting rotation through the first month of the MLB season, and on Friday, his struggled continued.  Schmidt gave up five runs on 10 hits and last only five innings in a 5-2 loss to the Texas Rangers.  In six starts, Schmidt has a record of 0-3 with a 6.84 ERA.  Photo by USA Today

Bottom right: A handful of local high school basketball players recently received All-State honors from the New York State Sportswriters Association for this past season.  Leading the way is Westfield sophomore Carson Swanson, shown here in action during a Section VI playoff game against Panama.  Swanson led all players in Chautauqua County with more than 27 points per game and was named to the Class D First Team.  A full rundown of local All-State players can be heard in the audio above.  File photo
