With just over a month to go before Election Day, there is a 21-point gap in the race for New York's 23rd Congressional District, according to a survey conducted by Cygnal. The survey, conducted September 19-21, has incumbent Republican Nick Langworthy leading Democratic challenger Aaron Gies 54-33%. Cygnal pollster Chris Lane says Langworthy is leading across every region of the district, including 54-36% in the Southern Tier. The survey also finds that Gies "has failed to introduce himself to the district," with his name ID standing at just 28%. Lane adds that half of registered Democrats have no opinion or never heard of their own nominee. 61% of voters have seen, read, or heard nothing about Gies' campaign. A total of 400 likely voters in the district were surveyed, and the poll has a +/-4.9% margin of error.
