Cuomo announces re-opening of Thruway this afternoon

Governor Cuomo brought some welcome news with him when he held another media briefing in Cheektowaga this morning...the re-opening of the State Thruway.  Cuomo announced that the Thruway will be re-opening at 3 pm...in sections.  And there will be restrictions.

Between Exits 51 and 61, only vehicles will be allowed to get onto the Thruway...but they won't be allowed to get off.  When traveling west along the section of the superhighway, you won't be able to exit the Thruway until reaching Pennsylvania. 

Officials say the I-190 and I-290 and Routes 219 and 400 will also re-open at 3 pm for essential traffic only.

Update: I-90 is open between Exits 46-61.  No exit at Exits 56, 57, 57A and 58 due to local travel bans.  I-190 is open except for Exits 1-5.
