Dunkirk Mayor AJ Dolce has named his choice for fire chief and he is no stranger to the position. Current Fire Chief Keith Ahlstrom is retiring next month and Dolce has pre-filed a resolution for Tuesday's Common Council appointing Mike Edwards to succeed Ahlstrom. Dolce tells WDOE News he feels Edwards is the best choice because of his background and experience.

Ahlstrom has held the post since it became a full-time, paid position. Edwards previously held the position before becoming a paid firefighter and recently became captain.
