With the Chautauqua County Legislature completing work on a resolution that supports state legislation that would allow the county to raise its sales tax to 8%, it's now up to local state lawmakers to finish the job. County Executive Vince Horrigan says that State Senator Cathy Young and Assemblyman Andy Goodell have been working hard on the request and they were well aware that county lawmakers would be discussing the language of the legislation...

The bills that Young and Goodell will try to get passed in their respective chambers includes the requirement of a county property tax levy cut of 3%. Horrigan says it hasn't been an easy process, but he remains hopeful they will be able to get the job done...

County lawmakers approved the amended resolution by a 17-1 vote Wednesday night. State lawmakers will be in session until June 17th.
