A Westfield native who died while serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan will have a bridge named after him. State Senator Cathy Young announced Tuesday that Sergeant Kevin White will be posthumously honored, as the span on Route 20 between Oak Street and South Portage Street in the Town of Westfield will be designated as the Sergeant Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge. White, a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, was killed in May 2011 when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.
