State AG Reaches Settlements with Car Dealerships That Failed to Give Notice of Dangerous Safety Defects

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Friday announced settlements with more than 100 car dealerships in the state which failed to provide customers notice of vehicles that were under recall for dangerous safety defects. Such defects included unintended acceleration, airbag problems, vehicle fires, and steering and brake loss.  Schneiderman says as part of the settlement, each of the dealerships will pay a $1,000 fine and will be required to provide consumers with advance notice of any existing and unrepaired recall. The list includes 12 dealerships in Western New York.
