A tractor-trailer rollover accident closed a portion of Peck Settlement Road in the Town of Kiantone for approximately four hours on Saturday. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene shortly after 6:00 AM. An investigation revealed that the driver, 52-year-old Shawn Mellott of Kenmore, was traveling south and went off the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle slid down into a deep roadside drainage ditch before overturning. Mellott was treated for a head injury at the scene. The road was shut down while the tractor-trailer was uprighted. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Kiantone Fire and the Chautauqua County HAZMAT Team. Charges are pending.
