The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department is still looking into yesterday's crash at Route 20 and South Roberts Road that claimed the life of former County Legislator John Dillenburg. County Sheriff Joseph Gerace tells WDOE News that Dillenburg's vehicle, a handicap van, drove from South Roberts Road into the path of a tractor-trailer. He was killed in the horrific collision.
Gerace-Jack was a friend
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 41-year-old Mario Estrada-Solis of Ontario, Canada, attempted to stop and moved to the right, but was unable to avoid the collision. Gerace says there have been a lot of deaths on county highways this year.
Gerace-Concern about increase in traffic deaths
The Sheriff says there is no specific reason for the increase. He urges all drivers to practice safety during their travels on area roads and highways.
